UC Berkeley has selected Google Apps for Education as the campus’s new calendar and email platform. The decision, finalized on Wednesday, followed months of detailed evaluation as part of the OE Productivity Suite project. Migration to the new platform will occur over the next 12 months; more details on the new tools and timeline will be available in January.

Naming contest for campus email, calendar ‘Google solution’

Members of the campus community are invited to submit Berkeley-specific names for the new email and calendar services, to be provided by Google as part of the OE Productivity Suite. The contest deadline is March 19, with a $250 gift card as the prize for the winning entry.
