Freshman class merges science and poetry

August 25, 2011:

A former U.S. poet laureate and an environmental scientist join forces for a popular freshman class that highlights the intersection of science and poetry. Robert Hass, professor of English, and Garrison Sposito, professor of environmental science, policy and management, say the course gives students tools to better assess claims made by all sides in public debates about science and environmental policy.

Berkeley program aids expat spouses lost in translation

July 19, 2011:

“Creating a Fulfilling Life in America” is helping the spouses of international scholars, students and researchers adjust to the translocation and build a meaningful new life in the Bay Area.

Reading and composition classes expanded

April 4, 2011:

Students who will be juniors and seniors and haven’t yet signed up for required reading and composition (R & C) classes have one more chance to enroll, and campus leaders have increased the number of 2011-12 seats to accommodate them.

Campus expands course offerings

February 15, 2011:

Campus leaders announced Monday that more than half a million dollars will be allotted to expand foreign language course offerings in 2011-12, part of a larger effort to increase student access to vital classes.
