Attention high schoolers: March 23 talk on “survival of the kindest”

UC Berkeley psychologist Dacher Keltner is the next speaker (Sat., Mar. 23, 10 a.m.) in the Nano-High series of talks sponsored by Berkeley Lab. Any high school student or teacher can sign up online and drop in to hear about cutting-edge scientific issues of the day. Keltner’s talk is titled “The Compassionate Instinct: A Darwinian Tale of Survival of the Kindest.”

Wellness? There’s a new Cal Rec Sports app for that

For anyone (everyone?) who makes New Year’s resolutions each year and lets them fall by the wayside, Cal Rec Sports has just the thing: a new, year-round health and wellness tool that is no further away than your computer or smartphone. The Daily Wellness Facebook app launched this week.

Thnx4.org: An easy way to give thanks, and maybe improve your life

November 19, 2012:

It’s Thanksgiving week, and UC Berkeley’s Greater Good Science Center has gone live with Thnx4.org, an interactive gratitude journal. On the site, people are invited to say what they’re thankful for and share the posts with others — at the same time contributing to a national research project. Taking part, research shows, can affect lives for the better.

Feeling grateful? UC Berkeley’s Greater Good Science Center has just gone live with Thnx4.org, an interactive gratitude journal. On the site, people are invited to say what they’re thankful for and share the posts with others — at the same time contributing to a national research project. The Cal Gratitude Challenge will remain open all month.

Greater Good Center issues RFP for research on gratitude

January 30, 2012:

The Greater Good Science Center has issued a call for proposals for a faculty-research project, “Expanding the Science and Practice of Gratitude.” The deadline to submit a letter of intent is Feb. 15, 2012.
