Men’s gymnastics program to continue at UC Berkeley

May 2, 2011:

As a result of fundraising efforts that have raised in excess of $2.5 million, the men’s gymnastics program at UC Berkeley will be preserved as an Intercollegiate Athletics sport, campus officials announced Monday.

Three UC Berkeley athletic teams to be preserved

February 11, 2011:

Three athletic teams at UC Berkeley, slated to cease intercollegiate competition at the end of this academic year – women’s lacrosse, women’s gymnastics and rugby – will be preserved, campus officials announced Friday.

Chancellor Birgeneau writes to the campus community regarding Friday’s announcement that men’s rugby, women’s gymnastics and women’s lacrosse will continue as intercollegiate varsity sports at Cal.
