New systemwide student health plan cuts costs, improves benefits

April 19, 2011:

University Health Services (the Tang Center) is joining the new UC Student Health Insurance Plan, reducing out-of-pocket expenses and improving benefits for 130,000 students across the UC system.

Politify tops CITRIS Big Ideas competition

May 2, 2012:

At the annual Big Ideas competition in CITRIS, students vied for $45,000 in prize money. This year, students won the top $20,000 prize for Politify, an online tool that allows voters to see how the platforms of the presidential candidates will affect their lives and the federal government. Other prizes went to a pen that helps autistic children write and a technology for spotting diabetes earlier.

Doctor leads off campus healthy-cooking series

September 26, 2011:

Dr. Preston Maring, known from bringing farmers’ markets to Kaiser hospitals, demonstrate simple food-prep techniques to kick off the campus’s Health*Matters healthy-cooking classes.
