The Council on American-Islamic Relations and the Center for Race and Gender at UC Berkeley have issued a report on the recent growth of Islamophobia in the U.S. Titiled “Same Hate, New Target,” the report explores such controversies as the proposed lower-Manhattan Islamic community center, a 2010 Oklahoma ballot initiative targeting Islamic principles, and Islamophobia in the 2010 elections. It also discusses “best” efforts to resist anti-Muslim sentiment.

Cal alum and playwright Wajahat Ali looks back on 9/11, Islamophobia

Playwright, essayist and attorney Wajahat Ali, a 2002 Berkeley English graduate, recently helped write a report on Islamophobia in the U.S. Ali talks with KQED Radio about the report and his play “The Domestic Crusaders” — about a Muslim family’s post-9/11 experience — which will be performed in New York City this weekend.
