More than 200 people crowded into the Bancroft Library Wednesday evening to celebrate publication of the first installment of Mark Twain’s long-awaited, three-volume autobiography. The Nov. 17 gala was marked by reverence and irreverence — as celebrities of all stripes took turns offering heart-wrenching and hilarious recitals of his work.
