Campus Shared Services IT center takes stock of early success
May 1, 2013:
In mid January, Campus Shared Services Information Technology began supporting more than 3,700 UC Berkeley staff from its home base in West Berkeley. The IT group, which has been closely tracking customer satisfaction through anonymous surveys and user testimonials, reports on campus users’ largely positive feedback so far.
Campus Shared Services launches first phase of IT support

Starting Jan. 17, Campus Shared Services is providing IT support for all faculty and staff in the Chancellor’s Office, units within VCAF, IST and the Office of the CIO, as well as groups that previously received IT service from DOCS.
CalTime to get expedited rollout
October 25, 2012:
To comply with recent decisions at the UC systemwide level, UC Berkeley is planning to move to a bi-weekly pay cycle for non-exempt employees (those eligible to earn overtime). These changes will result in an expedited rollout of CalTime.
New campus budget plan sets stage for strategic financial planning
October 10, 2012:
Members of the campus community recently got their first look at UC Berkeley’s new budget plan, the product of months of collaboration between finance staff, the Budget Office and the Operational Excellence CalPlanning project team. Now, the OE-funded system CalPlanning allows campus finance staff to learn new processes, develop financial-analysis and planning skills, and foster a more strategic approach to campus finances.
New ‘energy incentive’ links kilowatt usage with the bottom line

There’s little incentive to conserve when someone else pays the bill. So the new Energy Incentive Program aims to motivate building occupants and managers to bring down electricity usage. It’s one part of Operational Excellence’s energy program, and it’s projected to save the campus a sizable chunk of change each year, as well as shrink its carbon footprint.

Campus Shared Services Center location announced

UC Berkeley has signed a lease for a building to house the new Campus Shared Services (CSS) Center. The building is located at 1608 Fourth St., on the edge of Berkeley’s Fourth Street retail district, and the first 170 staff will move in this fall.
Naming contest for campus email, calendar ‘Google solution’
March 12, 2012:
Members of the campus community are invited to submit Berkeley-specific names for the new email and calendar services, to be provided by Google as part of the OE Productivity Suite. The contest deadline is March 19, with a $250 gift card as the prize for the winning entry.

Campus selects Google as new email and calendar solution
December 21, 2011:
UC Berkeley has selected Google Apps for Education as the campus’s new calendar and email platform. The decision, finalized on Wednesday, followed months of detailed evaluation as part of the OE Productivity Suite project. Migration to the new platform will occur over the next 12 months; more details on the new tools and timeline will be available in January.

Vice Chancellor Frank Yeary, the initiative’s point person, says the efforts are starting to bear fruit.
