Joint campus-city police safety patrol resumes

August 18, 2011:

The successful Joint Southside Safety Patrol will operate again on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights this school year. Beginning tonight, teams of campus and city officers in two squad cars will keep neighborhoods near campus free of unruly parties in off-campus student rental housing and fraternities.

Bomb threat a hoax, says UCPD

September 26, 2012:

After making continuous checks of campus buildings and other UC properties since Tuesday morning, the UC Police Department has concluded that a telephoned bomb threat received by a campus employee was, as suspected, a hoax.

UC Berkeley police distributed composite sketches of suspects in two similar criminal sexual incidents that were reported to UCPD within the past week.

BearWALK night-safety program gets an upgrade

The campus’s BearWALK night-safety service has been “reinvigorated” with interactive and automated technology, including automated dispatch and a “live map” with shuttle tracking by GPS.

After only a few months of operation, a pilot program on the city’s south side that set up a joint safety patrol by the UC Berkeley Police Department and the Berkeley Police Department is showing successful results
