Spanish students' work with Latino immigrants helps bring language learning alive with video

Volunteering at a local non-profit, Berkeley students in Amelia Barili’s advanced Spanish class use their language skills to interview political asylum seekers, translate documents and provide interpretation services for immigrants and their lawyers. This service-learning option builds on Barili’s research on using the findings of neurobiology and cognitive science to improve language learning. She and her students describe the project in a new video, linked from a Berkeley Language Center article.
