Fourteen staffers, six teams win Chancellor’s Outstanding Staff Awards
April 25, 2013:
Fourteen staffers and members of six teams will be honored Monday (April 29) as the UC Berkeley campus recognizes the 2013 recipients of the Chancellor’s Outstanding Staff Awards. Chancellor Robert Birgeneau will hand out awards and shake the honorees’ hands. The 2 p.m. event will be streamed live online.
A head for business, heart in ‘Great Gig in the Sky’

The campus has scheduled a welcome celebration for Chancellor-Designate Nicholas Dirks and his wife, Professor Janaki Bakhle, on Tuesday, Nov. 27, at 3:15 p.m. on the steps of Doe Library.
When the going gets tough, she’d rather be ombudsing

Sara Thacker gave up a successful career as a litigator for a more informal — and, she believes, more effective — approach to resolving conflicts. Now, as director of the Staff Ombuds Office, she aims to create a safe place for Berkeley staff and non-Senate faculty to work out their issues with managers, colleagues and, in some cases, the changing nature of their jobs themselves.

Systemwide survey looks at campus climate
October 15, 2012:
Over the next five months, UC students, faculty and staff will be surveyed about their school and workplace experiences in what is believed to be the largest study of institutional climate ever conducted. The results will be used to enhance the atmosphere of inclusiveness and respect at every UC campus and location.

‘Octolympian’ Mike Teti, Cal men’s crew coach, heads to 8th Olympic Games

In the first in a series of Cal Athletics’ stories on UC Berkeley athletes and coaches at the Summer Olympics, “Octolympian” Mike Teti is profiled. Teti, head men’s crew coach at Cal, has participated in seven previous Olympic Games. In London, the 1992 Olympic bronze medalist will coach the men’s eight rowing team.
