Wellness? There's a Cal Rec Sports app for that

For anyone (everyone?) who makes New Year’s resolutions each year and lets them fall by the wayside, Cal Rec Sports has just the thing: a new, year-round health and wellness tool that is no further away than your computer or smartphone. The Daily Wellness Facebook app launched this week.

Chancellor announces return to Berkeley-operated student health plan

May 2, 2013:

In response to student urging, the campus will withdraw from the UC-wide student health-insurance plan (UC SHIP) and return to a UC Berkeley-operated plan starting in mid August. Chancellor Birgeneau announced the decision in a May 2 letter to the campus community.

Flu shots available Wednesday at Tang

January 14, 2013:

It’s not too late to get a flu shot through University Health Services. Drop in this Wednesday, Jan. 16, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., or make an appointment with the Tang Center’s Allergy/Travel Clinic.

Last fall flu-shot clinic Thursday

November 28, 2012:

The Tang Center’s last fall-semester flu-shot clinic will be this Thursday, Nov. 29, from noon to 5:30 p.m. No appointment is necessary. The clinic is open to the campus and community, for those college age and above. The cost is $25, free for students with UC SHIP.

This Thursday: Depression-awareness webinars, Q&As

October 8, 2012:

Depression affects 9.1 percent of Americans, according to the CDC. On Depression Awareness Day, Oct. 11, UC will offer a one-hour webinar, throughout the day, on signs, symptoms and treatment of depression, and University Health Services will supplement the webinar with in-person discussions with campus psychologists.

Stop by Tang Center’s open house Wednesday

August 20, 2012:

Get the inside line on all that’s new in campus health and wellness during the Tang Center’s annual open house Wednesday. Center staff will be on hand 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to offer expert information, health testing and facility tours. Stop by 2222 Bancroft Way for tasty treats and prizes aplenty and de-stress with a free massage or some puppy TLC.

Cal Walks @ Work Day draws a campus crowd

May 24, 2012:

UC Berkeley faculty and staff went walkabout for 30 minutes Wednesday as part of the third annual Cal Walks @ Work Day.

UHS issues statement on patient-privacy policy

March 15, 2012:

On March 15, UC Berkeley’s University Health Services issued a statement clarifying its policies and laws it follows regarding protection of patient information, and its actions following the Nov. 9 campus protest.

UHS offers final 2011 flu-shot clinic Dec. 1

November 29, 2011:

University Health Services will hold the last flu-shot clinic of the 2011 flu season from noon to 6 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 1, at the Tang Center’s ground floor.

Protect yourself against flu and mumps — at Tang immunization clinics

October 5, 2011:

Mumps have been making the rounds on campus, and flu season is upon us. But so are fall flu-shot clinics at the Tang Center — starting Oct. 6. An additional MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine isl also available. Immunizations are free to students with UC SHIP; others pay $25.
