Open Enrollment is the annual opportunity for eligible staff and faculty to make changes to certain benefits, usually the medical, dental and vision plans, as well as add eligible family members. Occasionally, the legal plan is also open for enrollment and it is open this year.
Renewed: Employee time-reduction program, military-pay supplement
July 5, 2012:
UC’s voluntary Employee-Initiated Reduction in Time (ERIT) program and its policy on Supplement to Military Pay have been renewed for two years, through June 30, 2014.
Eligibility verification project to save UC $10 million a year
June 20, 2012:
The vast majority of faculty, staff and retirees with family members enrolled in UC-sponsored health plans have had all their family members verified to be eligible for coverage.
Family-member eligibility documentation due May 17
April 10, 2012:
UC faculty, staff and retirees with family members enrolled for health-plan coverage (medical, dental or vision) are being asked to provide eligibility documentation by Thursday, May 17. Those who fail to respond run the risk of being de-enrolled from plan coverage.
Need childcare in a pinch? New UC benefit offers access to caregivers
November 17, 2011:
Beginning Jan. 1, 2012, employees throughout the UC system will be able to find emergency backup care and other services using Sittercity. Available to faculty and staff covered by UC benefits (except where collective bargaining is required), the new benefit also provides referrals to in-home nannies, eldercare providers, transportation, dog walkers, pet sitters, tutors, housekeepers and more.
UC health-insurance rates, for most, to see ‘modest increases’ in 2012
October 19, 2011:
This year’s Open Enrollment for UC health and welfare benefits begins Monday, Oct. 31 and runs through Nov. 22, 2011. Complete information on benefit options and rates will be available on UC’s At Your Service website beginning Oct. 24. In the meantime, UC Office of the President offers an overview of the 2012 package, including “modest increases” in medical-plan costs for most employees.
